Clearmont Students Enjoy a Visit from Cartoonist and Author Jeffrey Brown
In April, Clearmont Elementary and Scholastic staff members teamed up to bring author Jeffrey Brown to Clearmont for an author visit.
Brown, well-loved by the students for his creative book series about what would happen if Star Wars villain Darth Vader had a family life, came to talk to students about how he became an author and illustrator. He has many published books, including The Phantom Bully, Darth Vader and Friends, Star Wars: Jedi Academy, and many others.
Brown’s entertaining presentation captivated the students, as he shared his early writing experiences with them. His overhead display and narration included many fun examples of his own elementary school ideas and drawings, all the way up through his present day career and stories. He encouraged the students to keep the work they are creating now and to keep writing and developing their own story ideas.
Students also had the opportunity to have him sign their personal copies of his books, and he also signed posters in the building that the students created for his visit.
It was difficult to determine who enjoyed the experience more – the students, or the author.
