Learning Resource Center (LRC)

Welcome to the Library Resource Center! The Library Resource Center (LRC) is the hub of the school. It is our mission to promote the love of reading, learn to use technology safely and responsibly, discover how to research with multiple tools, and explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) projects and activities.

The LRC is home to many different resources that students and staff have access to. The resources includes books, ebooks, interactive books, databases, magazines, iPads, extra laptop computers, and a Smart board, as well as many other teacher and classroom resources.

Students visit the LRC twice as a class on a rotating basis during our six-day rotation cycle. One of the two days is reserved for library time and STEAM activities. The other day is reserved for instruction of the new LRC curriculum and framework. The LRC curriculum focuses on Information Literacy, Digital Citizenship, and Love of Reading.

Information Literacy:

  • Engages in the information literacy process: access, evaluate, and communicate information and ideas
  • Uses a variety of skills and strategies to comprehend nonfiction and informational text

Digital Citizenship:

  • Understand and practice appropriate and safe uses of technology
  • Use basic internet safety
  • Use email to communicate within school (3rd – 5th grade)

Love of Reading:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of written language and the relationship of letters and words to the sounds of speech
  • Reads for a variety of purposes and across content areas
  • Independently reads a significant number of books and texts each year (fiction, nonfiction, and a variety of genres)

Did you know? Students captured their own photos of their STEAM activities. Be sure to check them out!
