Our community is dedicated to creating a climate that meets the needs of each child and ensures each student becomes an enthusiastic and successful life-long learner. We all know that positive, strong partnerships between teachers and parents are an essential component for creating highly successful students. Your contributions to your child’s education at home and at school are sincerely valued and greatly appreciated.

Together we collaborate and problem solve to do whatever it takes to support student learning. We model clear expectations and teach students not only subject area knowledge, but also how to apply and integrate this information across subjects. This year we will be taking an even closer look into the whole child with our approaches related to social emotional learning, and 21st Century Learning tools which may also include innovative supports and technology. It is our goal to provide a school-wide proactive climate that is positive and consistent where expectations are understood, taught and modeled by adults. At Clearmont School, we ‘SOAR’ to promote success for all, and more formally, refer to this as Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS).

Clearmont School ‘SOARs’ together to promote success for all

Safety:

  • We teach students about safety within the school. More specifically, we have students discuss and advocate by asking pertinent questions, so that they have the skills to know when and how to report safety issues to adults.

Ownership / Responsibility:

  • We teach students that giving their best effort makes them feel proud.
  • We help students take control by taking responsibility for their actions.

Attitude / Respect:

  • We listen to others, which in turn shows respect for the person that is talking. Listening helps everyone learn.
  • We create a positive environment by teaching students to show respect and share compliments with one another.
  • We help students understand the differences and similarities among peers in the classroom and school community, with a final outcome of acceptance for all.
  • We promote giving the best effort every day, as it makes learning easier.

Ready to learn!

  • We teach, model, practice and reinforce to ensure that students are prepared with all of their supplies and materials ready for learning each and every day!
  • Students also have the opportunity, to earn SOAR tickets as a reinforcement when being caught doing extraordinary acts of kindness for others!
